Recently, the Philippines has been listed as one of the Top 10 Countries to Visit in 2015 by The Lonely Planet. Another accolade was again given to the country when Conde Nast Traveler’s named Palawan as the best island in the world.
Conde Nast Traveler is a travel and luxury lifestyle magazine that has already won 25 National Magazine Awards. The magazine is widely circulated and is a leading guide for travellers all over the world.
Traveler’s described Palawan as “This small island—one of the Philippines’ 7,107—shot to the top of our list this year with a recent claim to fame: It’s now home to one of the new seven natural wonders of the world, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River.”
The underground river is five miles long in a subterranean cave system. Many of the guided tours available can only cover a portion of the underground river. Natural rock formation made from melting limestone and karsts can be found inside the cave system.
Palawan scored 88.750 which beat other popular islands like Bora Bora, Bermuda, Maldives, Bali, Hawaii and even the Great Barrier Reef.
Another Philippine destination, Boracay, made it to the list and described as having “azule water”, “powdery white sand”, “thriving nightlife scene” and “gentle coastlines”.
Visit Palawan and commune with nature and explore what the islands have to offer!
